Understanding Weed Pipe Anatomy

If you are still relatively new to smoking aweed pipe, you may still be figuring out the various parts. The good thing about pipes is that they are usually very simple in design. Unlikebongs anddabbing rigs, most pipes don’t have too many parts. This makes them easy to use and ideal for beginners. That’s not to say that all pipes are the same, of course. If you’re ready to progress from a very basic one-hitter to something a little more complex, having some idea of weed pipe anatomy can help you get the best smoking experience.

The Anatomy of a Weed Pipe

As we mentioned, many pipes will consist of just one or two parts. Others may have a few more. Here are the most common weed pipe parts you’ll need to know about.

The bowl

This is the part that holds your weed. It is a round-shaped basin with a smaller hole used to place your weed. The size of the bowl will depend on the type and size of your pipe. One-hitters typically have very small bowls that can hold just a tiny amount of weed. More complex pipes will have a larger bowl.

The mouthpiece

Some pipes may have shanks that connect the stem to the bowl and stems that connect the shank to the mouthpiece. Most have a more simple design, with a mouthpiece that runs from the bowl. This is where the smoke transports to your mouth as the weed burns in the bowl. It is a very tight, condensed channel.

The carb

Some pipes may also have a carb - an additional channel that provides more airflow as you smoke. These tiny holes are usually found on the side of the pipe. As you draw in the smoke, you place your finger over the hole. Not all pipes have these, however.
